UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities consists of 356 cities across 79 countries that foster an inclusive culture of learning to empower citizens of all ages and enhance social inclusion, economic development and cultural prosperity. Through this international network, member cities benefit from inspiration, know-how and best practices to inform local policies and programmes.

In 2022, Edmonton became the first Canadian city to join UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities. The Canadian Commission for UNESCO looks forward to further building this network in Canada, as part of its commitment to education for sustainable development.
